Various Recent Pics...

We went to Mountasia for the twins 6th birthdays.

We celebrated our outstanding mini-golfing scores.

Here's Sam at the Frio river. It is! He was!!

Here are they boys at our river cabin.

We stop at the playground after church. We are giving up on getting all four to pose at once.

Ike

Ike blew through our neighborhood. Here are trees bending in the wind as the storm arrives.

Another shot of Ike's arrival.

The boys go into the house to wait it out. We all spent the night in the master bedroom away from the windows.

The view from the backyard. Off to the west, it's peaceful. Behind us, the storm is moving in.

Gustav Arrives

We greeted Gustav by hitting the practice range. It looks ominous, but so far hasn't dropped much rain on Houston. We'll see how it goes. Our prayers are with the people in the storm's path.

Hook 'em Horns!

Matt and I made a road-trip to Austin Saturday to see the Longhorns take on the mighty Florida Atlantic Owls. We went to my cousin Julie' house and went with her friends to the game. Matt wants to be a Longhorn, so it was really fun! We've never seen so much burnt orange in our entire lives. We drove all the way home after the game, listening New Orleans residents call WLL-AM (New Orleans 50k watt radio station which comes in clear at night) and describe what route they were taking out of the city. Here are some pics.

Nicholas Jonathan Forrest

Resting peacefully on Day 2.

Something's not right.

Much better.

Goodnight. :)

Nicholas' life begins.

15 minutes into life and things are already getting tough.

Nothing that a nice finger can't help.

And when he leaves here he's got these jokers to deal with.

"Come around where I can get a look at you, Dad."

"Here's a hobby I picked up in the womb."

Going to try to eat.

Mom and her child.

Welcome Nicholas. We love you.

Our House.

Welcome to Casa Forrest. We're not sure if we chose the house because we have a big family, or if we're having more kids to fill the house. Either way, it works out.

Azaleas in bloom are a Southern tradition.

Texans are friendly, so we build houses close to our neighbors.

Capitol Trip

We visited the Capitol on our trip to Austin. It was really fun. A beautiful building. You park across the street and walk right in. The legislators were all back at their homes, which is just as well.

There is lots of Texas history depicted in the capitol. Texas has one of the richest state histories in the union. And Texans like to remember it.

Here are the boys on the state seal.

I'm not sure who this is. When in doubt, I say it's Sam Houston.

Matt loved visiting the House and Senate chambers.

A view of the beautiful cupola on top of the capitol seen from the inside.

Brothers together in Texas. What more is there?

Ice Skating, Austin Style

We went to Austin for the day and went ice skating. Doesn't everyone. More than that, we skated on the top of Whole Foods. Is there anything you can't do at that store? It was our small attempt to keep Austin weird. Wwwwwwweeeeeeeeeeeee!

Matt, hanging ten off the rail!

Benny says "Cheeeeeeeeese."

Sam's not so sure about it.
